Lumpia

This is a Filipino traditional recipe, and a Santos family staple. Its a great example of finger food that you can’t stop eating! First you’ll put 3 on your plate, then 4 or 5 on the next run, and before you know it, it’ll all be gone!

Ingredients

  • 1 Package of Lumpia Wrappers
  • 1 lb Ground Pork
  • 1 lb Raw Shrimp
  • 2 Carrots
  • 2 Stalks of Celery
  • 1 tbsp Mrs. Dash
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Garlic
  • Vegetable Oil

Directions:

  • Chop the celery and carrots
  • Put the shrimp in a food processor along with the chopped celery and carrots, and process
  • In a large bowl mix, shrimp mixture, ground pork, Mrs. Dash, salt, pepper, eggs, and garlic
  • Separate the lumpia wrappers, and place the stuffing on the wrappers, roll it up, and seal it with water
  • Freeze for 4-6 hours before frying
  • In a large pot, pour vegetable oil, and turn the heat on high. Test for readiness with a piece of lumpia: placing it in the oil should produce bubbles
  • Fry the lumpia until golden brown and place the finished product on a paper towel covered plate to strain.
